Tony Nouragas

Tony Nouragas is the lead vocalist of Opus Rex.

Music has always been an integral part of Tony’s life. The writing and creative process began at the age of 15 while indulging in forms of poetry and cumulative stories. The four types of writing that Tony uses to convey his ideas and emotions are descriptive, persuasive, narrative and expository; all allow for a cathartic release.  Tony has partaken in a handful of vocal lessons but has decided to self educate and train himself through vocal octaves and breathing techniques.

Before Opus Rex Tony was the lead vocalist of the heavy Rock/Metal band Hostile Forces and had worked with other previous bands with vocal and lyrical writing duties.  Currently Tony writes and plays in an acoustic band called Omphalos stone as a side project.  Tony’s range of vocals varies and combines singing melodies to guttural growling, while being multi-dimensional and multi-faceted by including all levels of the spectrum.  Tony creates his own drawings and sketches of cartoons and mythological creatures, inspired by Hellenistic art.

His influences strongly arise from all forms of Metal and Hard Rock, from bands such as Slipknot, Stone Sour, Tool, Pantera, Mudvayne and Testament, to name a few.  Singer/song writer influences include George Dalaras, Corey Taylor, Trent Reznor, Maynard James Keenan, and Dave Grohl.
